Orthopedic surgeons, led by renowned surgeon and Padmashree recipient Dr. Ashok Rajgopal at Fortis Bone and Joint Institute in Gurugram, successfully performed the first robot-aided joint replacement surgery on a 61-year-old patient Shealda in Kolkata suffering from severe left knee pain. He used the NAVIO PFS surgical system, the latest robotic intervention in joint replacement. Shealda was treated with this technology regain full movement, including sitting cross-legged and squatting. Dr. Ashok Rajgopal emphasized that this technology allows orthopedic treatment similar to day-care surgeries. Shealda, a resident of Kolkata, expressed her happiness about becoming pain-free after the robot-assisted knee surgery and being the first in her region to undergo this procedure.
